TREATMENT OF HYPERTENSION / ANTI-HYPERTENSIVES

Indications:- Carvedilol is indicated in the treatment of mild to moderate hypertension.

It is used in patients unable to tolerate an ACE inhibitor and also in patients not receiving digitalis.

Contraindications:- Carvedilol is contraindicated in patients suffering from broncho spasm or asthma, hepatic function impairment, metabolic acidosis and peripheral vascular dieases .

Indication: Used in managing hypertension.

 Contra – Indication: Methyldopa is contra-indicated in patients with active hepatic diseases and patients hypersensitive to any of its components. Pregnancy and lactation

 DOSAGE: As directed by the physician.

NORAPINE

INDICATION: Amlodipine is indicated for the treatment of hypertension and can be used as a sole agent to control blood pressure in the majority of patients.

CONTRAINDICATION: Amlodipine is contraindicated in patients with a known sensitivity to dihydropyridines, amlodipine, or any of the inert ingredients.

DOSAGE: As directed by the physician.

Indication: Lisinopril is used to treat elevated blood pressure, heart failure and to improve survival after attack.

Contra-indication: Hypersensitivity to lisinopril can cause dizziness due to drop in blood pressure.

Indication:- Oedema due to cardiac, hepatic or renal disorders (in the presence of nephrotic syndrome, treatment of the basic disorder is the prime concern). Oedema due to burns. Mild to moderate hypertension.

Contraindication:- Anuria, hepatic coma, hypokalaemia, hypovolaemia with or without hypotension hypersensitivity to frusemide or sulphonamides.

Dosage: As directed by the physician.

INDICATIONS:- Atorvastatin is used for the treatment of elevated total cholesterol, LDL, and triglycerides and to elevate HDL cholesterol. The effectiveness of atorvastatin in lowering cholesterol is dose-related, meaning that higher doses reduce cholesterol more.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:- Hypersensitivity to atorvastatin, patients with liver or muscle disease, pregnancy and lactation.
